Who are we?

We’re a UK based group of parents, friends, carers and family members of children with cataracts, young people and adults who’ve themselves had cataracts as children and members of families who may be affected by childhood cataracts.  Our membership is free and is also open to friends professionals and others with an interest in childhood cataracts and to people from outside the UK.

We were set up at the end of 2007 as there was no current UK support group for childhood cataracts. At the moment we’re focussing on being the best and most accessible information hub possible through this website.

We also have an email list for members who are adult patients and parents, carers and family members of children with cataracts.

What we do next depends on who comes forward to volunteer their time, and what they’d like to do.  We would love more people to research and write articles for this website or to contribute their own stories - please see our submission rules if you’d like to do this.

If you’d like to help with any of these things, or have any other ideas, please get in touch.  We’re aware that most families with a small child are very busy, and even more so because of the extra work that cataracts and visual impairments bring, so we are very happy to have any contribution, however small.
